Brackenbury, Kenmont & Wendell Park Federaton Governing Board
We want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the role we play at each school.
The Governing Board has an important part to play in raising school standards. We set the strategic direction for the schools, ensure financial accountability and monitor and evaluate school performance. While the Executive Head teacher and Heads of School are responsible for the day-to-day running of each school, our role is often described as acting as “a critical friend”. We provide strategic governance to ensure that all children get the best possible education, constantly challenging the schools to attain the best possible performance.
We have responsibility together with the leadership teams for agreeing the policies for the general running of each school. We fulfil statutory duties to ensure that each school is a safe, healthy and inclusive environment. We provide support and challenge to the leadership team of each school on all issues that affect the learning and welfare of our pupils. We also have a responsibility to handle complaints, though it is important to note that individual problems should, at the outset, be directed first to your child’s teacher and then to the school’s leadership team.
The governing Board is drawn from the school staff, parents of children at the schools, the community that our schools serve and people who have applied through – or been nominated by – the Local Authority. The usual term of office is four years but many governors stand for re-election and serve more than one term.
If you are interested in the work we do, would like to find out more, have any questions – or are interested in becoming a governor, please contact the school.
The full Governing Board meets once a term, and there are sub-committees dealing with Resources & Finance and Curriculum & Standards. Once approved, the Minutes of all our meetings are available from any school office.

Governing Board Diversity Information
Diversity is important and the DfE want governing boards to be increasingly reflective of the communities they serve.
The DfE encourages schools to collect and publish governing board members’ diversity data. Board members can opt out of sharing their information, including protected characteristics, at any given time and so the information below may not include all members of the board.

I've lived in Hammersmith and Fulham for the past three years and it's a place I'm proud to call home. I currently work as a Strategy Advisor in the Secretary of State for Housing, Policy and Strategy Unit, where I help drive forward long-term policy across government. My experience in public service-as well as my role as a proud aunty to two nieces- has given me a strong appreciation for the role that education plays in building confidence, nurturing potential and breaking down barriers to opportunity. As one of the newest members of the governing board, I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the school, its staff, and the wider community. I'm excited to contribute to its continued success and support its strategic development in the years ahead. -

I've taught across various year groups and have led whole-school music assemblies and the Kenmont school choir, which has been a real highlight. I love how every day in teaching is different and brings new opportunities to inspire and support our pupils.

I joined Brackenbury in 2021 and currently work as Year 6 teacher. I started my teaching career six years ago and taught for four years at school in Twickenham. I have worked across Key Stage 2 in Years 4, 5 and 6, which has deepened my knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in this key stage.
I initially joined Brackenbury as DT lead - where I enjoyed developing the curriculum to include computer aided design - but the following year I became Science Lead. This has allowed me to develop a science curriculum which is accessible, diverse and exciting with the intent for children to continue with science subjects in secondary schools and later life. Being Science Lead has allowed me to work across the school with staff, children and parents and I am looking forward to working with the community of the three schools in the federation. Brackenbury is a wonderful school to work at where all staff are committed to the Brackenbury vision & ethos of developing lifelong learners who have the skills to be happy and successful in our ever changing world. I am looking forward to this role and being part of the governing board.

Ms Ayan Yusuf
I have taught at Wendell for 8 years now and very much look forward to my future endeavours here. Every day at Wendell Park is unique, fulfilling and exciting. I guess that's what I love the most about our wonderful Wendell community.
I came to this wonderful school straight from University and completed my NQT year in Year 5. What a year that was! Since then, I have worked across the board and have taught in Years 3, 5 and 6. I am a dedicated ECT mentor and greatly relish my role in developing newly qualified teachers - inducting them to the all-important ‘Wendell Way.'
The various roles which I hold – that of Maths lead, Assessment Lead and of course, creative director of the infamous (and annual!) W Factor – mean that I work across the entire school and interact daily with the staff, children and parents. I love my job wholeheartedly and feel passionate about the work we do. I am fully committed to the Wendell Park vision & ethos and believe that as a school, we continually strive to provide an inspiring, nurturing and challenging environment, which allows all of our children to be happy, safe and successful. We ensure that all of our children leave school with a sense of pride and accomplishment in themselves and their abilities, and with a strong vision of their own futures. I am incredibly proud to be a member of Wendell Park and look forward to sharing in all of its future successes.
